FAQ

Questions people ask

Is it really free?

Yes, during the Michigan beta. No card, no trial clock. When it costs money it'll be a flat yearly price announced here well ahead of time. It will never be free-with-ads.

Android or iPhone?

Android now. iPhone users can use the web version today and the native app is in progress. Tell us which you're on when you sign up and we'll let you know the moment it's ready.

Does it work with no cell service?

Yes. Your pins, trails, folders, sits and the Michigan base layers live on the phone. Anything you log offline syncs the next time you have signal. Only live buddy positions and weather need a connection in the moment.

Who can see my stands?

You, and anyone you've put in that folder. That's it. There's no public map, no feed, no "nearby hunters" of your pins. The regional activity index shows counts only, opt-in, with no names and no locations finer than a region.

Where is my data stored?

On a server we run, in a database we control, with a copy on your phone. Not on a marketing platform, not with a data broker. If you delete your account we delete your data. If you want it exported, ask and you'll get it.

What's the catch?

You're early. Things will break, and when they do you'll be talking to the person who wrote the code, usually the same day. That's the deal.

Does it cover states other than Michigan?

The map works anywhere; the parcel data, public land shading and DNR reporting are Michigan today. We'll add states when we can do each one properly.

Is the parcel data accurate?

It's the county's data, as current as the county keeps it. Treat the line on the map like you'd treat a line on any map: a very good guide, not a survey. Ask before you cross.

Can I use it for turkey, bear, small game?

Yes. Pins, folders, sits and the harvest book aren't deer-only; the wind and travel tools are built around whitetail because that's what we hunt most. Tell us what you hunt and we'll build for it.

How do I get in?

Put your name on the list. We add hunters in small groups, camps first, so we can keep up with you.
