About
Two Michigan hunters, one developer, a lot of cold mornings.
HuntWhere started as a map one of us built for his own camp because the apps we were paying for kept getting worse at the one thing we needed them for.
Kurt builds software for a living and has hunted whitetail in Michigan his whole life. Jake hunts the same ground, breaks everything Kurt builds, and sends screenshots from the stand with one-line complaints that turn into features by the weekend. That's the whole company. There's no office, no investors, no growth team, and no plan to sell your data to make payroll, because there is no payroll.
What we believe
- A hunting app should be quiet. No pop-ups, no deals, no "limited time." You open it, you see your woods.
- Your spots are the most private thing you own. Hunters have kept them secret for generations. We're not the ones who end that.
- The crew is the unit. Most apps are built for one hunter staring at his own phone. Ours is built for the four guys who share a lease.
- Say it plainly. In the app, on this site, in the email you get when something breaks. If we screw up, we'll tell you what happened.
Where we are
Michigan, Lower Peninsula. The app ships with Michigan parcel data, Michigan public land, and the Michigan DNR reporting rules built in. Other states will come when we can do them right, not when a map says we should "expand."
What it costs
Nothing while we're in beta. When we charge, it'll be a flat yearly price with a camp option, posted on this site, and you'll know months ahead. Never ads. Never "free with offers." If that model ever changes, we'll have failed at the thing we set out to do and you should leave.
